Well hello then...

Right, well I was in the hospital earlier visiting my mother who just had surgery (she's doing very well, thank God) and there was a world culture poster on the wall near the desk, a map of the world. We had a look and I pointed out that Lara went to Bolivia, to London, and back down to Peru which is just next door to Bolivia.

Then I noticed something, and said "Wait a minute! Hold the tomb raiding!". What did I see? Something titled La Paz in BOLIVIA. Now, I know that wasn't a typo error, so I did some research and come to find out; the place where Lara, Anaya, and Amanda did their archaeological dig, La Paz, is actually in Bolivia, not Peru!

Eidos, did you know that? What about you, Crystal Dynamics? Hmm? I think we need to have a bit of a world history lesson here.

Well, if I understood the wikipedia article on La Paz correctly, the city was founded in Peru and has been moved to its present location in Bolivia later. Nevertheless this is slightly embarrassing for Crystal Dynamics [hehe]

Sorry for the late response, I remembered this thread after hearing the term 'La Paz' today, [hehe] .

Perhaps Eidos/Crystal Dynamics is living in the past? In Quantum of Solace, Bond and Camille head to La Paz in Bolivia during the last scenes in the movie; what is so special about La Paz?!

Strange, I thought I replied to that ages ago...
Where did you hear that the dig was in La Paz?

The digsite was Paraiso. The only reference made to La Paz was in Bolivia, where at the beginning Lara states something like "An old friend from La Paz has tipped me off..." Oh, while thinking about it just now I see where that comes from. :rofl

I think they mean to say that Anaya is now living in La Paz. ;-)

Paraiso is the name of the city, La Paz is the name of the dig site, I believe. When Lara and Anaya meet in Peru, Anaya says, "La Paz is not that far away". Lara responds, "Neither is the past".

Confusing, yes!

But what did Lara say before that?

Quoted

Lara: Yet here you are.
Anaya: La Paz is not so far away.

In other words: "I did not have to journey far."
