RE: Peru - The Lost Valley

thats my proble as well. there i was looking for the missing cog and a Trex bites my head off.

in the original i was able to hide out and kill it from a vantage. not found that spot here yet. all i have is two shotgun shots and a pea shooter to kill the thing.

im thinking this is an adrenaline excersise. i guess i am going to have to figure it out.

PS. now i know what lara keeps in that bag of hers - some clean pants!!

I hope you've left the hints active for the start.

Shoot at the beast till it's angry. Then wait for it to rush towards you.

Evade by pressing left/right and roll while keeping the t-rex in view (locked on)

Then, when the red circle appears, fire a single shot.

What will we do at the start of this fight, I can't hide from the firt attack of the T-Rex, it always bites me, and the health bar seems doesn't appear.

adrenaline dodge

so im still trying to kill the t-rex, but the adrenaline dodge wont kick in - which is why i cant get a decent shot in.

so i shoot the thing until until it rages, then it charges. at this point a little set of direction arrows appears on the screen. so im thinking this is the point. i press left and space and all it does it jump left then the t-rex hits me because 1 left just is too short.

so i try again with crouch and all that does is crouch or roll left and the same thing happens.

so here's the thing: could i be not locked on. if im firing i should be locked? maybe im not pressing the keys EXACTLY right. do i need to tap them rather than press and hold. do i need them in an order or at the same time. i would have thought that the same keys that would produce a combat jump left would dodge but they dont.

... will try more.

RE: adrenaline dodge

done it!!

here's some help for anyone else using the pc version.

basically, it wont AD with jump + direction and the shift key is too tricky to press at the exact same time when you also have to fire and combat lock.

do this:
(1) set combat mode to advanced hold (not necessary but allow you to shoot targets off screen).
(2) re-assign jump to C
(3) re-assign crouch to spacebar

you will want to assign jump back to spacebar after the kill, but this really helps for the AD.

when the monster charges, you'll find the direction + spacebar youve been trying to AD with actually works this time. then wait for the reticule targets to go red and fire!

I think space is the wrong button - I am not quite sure, as I don't use the original buttons configuration - you need to press Shift....

RE: adrenaline dodge

yeah. thats what ive found out, although the manual says space or shift. basically space doesnt work, but its the best positioned key to use.

so my plan was to temporarily re-assign crouch (shift) to space. that makes it work and be pressable. unfortunately left shift is not easy to press with the direction keys because you have to use your little finger side and back a bit - will depend exactly on your keyboard tho'.

oh, i just noticed in the rewards section the art gallery of TR1 vs TRA (right at the bottom need to scroll down). this gallery is excellent comparision.

cheers,

There are a couple of rocks at the opposite side of the valley to the two spiked structures. If you run over there and climb onto the 2nd rock you are out of range of the TRex and can simply stand there and empty your pistols into him until he dies. It's not exactly a challenge and takes a while, but it'll kill him.

Time Trial Frustration !

I need help! (not the medical kind)

Does anyone have any advice on completing the lost valley TT? I've completed all the other Peru TT's and am really stuck on this one. I get the third cog and am above the valley (on my way back) when the time runs out. I know I still have to get back and climb up to place the last cog and think it's nigh on impossible! Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm pulling my hair out here!

Edit: I just tried again on normal setting and my best time is 19:13! It needs to be 15:00

I did not have time to play this time trial yet, so I am having difficulties imagining how much time you really have. But have you followed all the basic rules?

1. Leave Pickups
2. Speed up moves by repeatedly pressing Interaction (shimmying, climbing, swimming, diving....)

And in this level: Have you used the traps around the arena, when fighting the T-Rex. Each head shot has to hit the target and you should try to get the T-Rex to run into the traps.

Hey TRG!

Yeah I've tried doing those things. I don't pick up anything and I even run past most of the wolves and the bear so I don't have to spend time shooting them.
After playing this level so many times I am now a master of the adrenaline head-shot thing to kill the T-Rex and make him bump into the spiky things and the rocks. Has anyone managed to complete it on PS2??

You don't have to use the Dodge-Headshot only for the T-Rex.. Use it for alle the enemy's you face, that would speed it up! ;-)

I use it on most of them anyway; or if I can, I run past them when doing TT's. Have you completed the TT Metroida? :einfall I just want to know that it is actually possible!!
